A note from Retro Rich
- Hey party people. Last year's Retro Ride to Stanton Lanes was a great time, and by now you must be more than ready to dust off those beaters and hit the streets for this year's first Retro Ride (AKA sweaty butt ride). We'll be gathering at the bike shop on Friday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m.and heading to Luzerne where we will ride the Back Mountain Trail to Pizza Perfect on Carveton Road. It's a classic ride. Half pavement/half dirt, all fun! The return trip is quite exhilarating as we speed down the trail in the dark. It's a rush!
Pizza Perfect is hands-down my favorite sicilian pizza in the area. More importantly, they serve beer, and you'll need it to cool off. Please bring your best retro bike and retro attire. Expect a lazy pace and no hills. We have 3 or 4 bikes for those in need and I'm lending them out for free this time. You must call in advance so I can have them road worthy. Don't be afraid to call on Friday. Please bring a light. Any light will do. Special bonus points will be awarded for the following:
- most interesting costume
- best use of the salvation army
- Light with most D batteries
Dairy Queen is also a possibility on the way home.
See you there,
Retro Rockster Richie
Mural in Progress- As if painting our building orange and blue wasn't enough, our good friend
Daphne Hoyt is painting our entryway with a unique bicycle-inspired
mural.
Daphne is an excellent doorman, but an even better painter. With such a big project ongoing, we'd appreciate your patience by letting her do the voodoo that she-do so well!
Stop in and meet the new bike guy!
- After four years in business, Rich and Tom are proud to announce the addition of a third
member to the A-Town team. Please come by and welcome our first full-time
employee, Lee Frantz. Lee has over 30 years of bicycle industry experience
and is going to be a big help to us as we strive to better meet the needs of our customers.
We feel very lucky to have found such a high-caliber and knowledgeable employee— who also happens to be a really nice, approachable guy. Lee has spent much of the last 30 years in Michigan and has decided to return to his roots in northeast PA.
Lee was a mechanic for four Race Across America runs and was a team mechanic for five 24-hour world records. He has extensive experience with bike fitting and wheel building, and is going to be an integral part of our custom framebuilding operation. Lee has raced road and mountain bikes and has toured Colorado, Italy, New Zealand and Montana. He also enjoys cross country skiing and kayaking.
